An Irish Family Vacation, Part 2

DSC00415

Our Ireland family vacation continued with a ride from Adare to Dingle, which was a certified adventure, driving down curvy, rugged roads past sheep and cows. Dingle neighbors the Ring of Kerry, where we were heading next to stay with friends. We were driving to the west coast of Ireland, and I had no idea that I was about to experience such raw, rugged beauty. In Dingle, the sea was so blue, the grass so green.  As we made our way, driving onto the peninsula and into the small town filled with painted shops and pubs, a harbor with sailing boats and a … [Read more...]

st. jude

I've written about St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on this blog several times.  Here and here and here and here and here.  Over the last two years, I have come face to face with the team at St. Jude after having run a viable campaign that I spearheaded for an old client, Ruckus Media Group, raising a significant amount of money to help the children of St. Jude using social media and creative merchandising. Af the end, I was invited to visit and tour the hospital as a partner about which I wrote: There was an adorable little girl playing in a … [Read more...]

After having lived in and near NYC for many years, I certainly know how cost prohibiting a visit may seem to some people.  But as I’ve mentioned here on this blog many times, there are tricks of the trade to explore the best of NYC without breaking the bank. I've partnered up with CityPASS this month to shed light on a few ‘underground tips’ when it comes to conquering the concrete jungle. An Irish Family Vacation, Part 1

Ireland

When close friends recently invited us to spend a few days with them in Ireland where one of them grew up, I gently nudged my husband until he agreed to go.  The two of us have stayed with friends in exotic places many times over the years, and we know how much fun it is to stay with natives.  It’s a unique experience and a sure-fire way to get to know the destination on a truly intimate way, directly through the eyes of a local.  We broke up our trip up into a stay with them and a bit of sightseeing en route, to give our kids a taste of the country and … [Read more...]

You may (or not!) have been wondering about my whereabouts these last few weeks as it's been rather quiet here.  I've been on a family trip to Ireland and England, where we spent time with close family and friends. While I did think about blogging, I chose not to write for the few weeks while I was away.  I took copious notes and have lots to talk about, but now that I'm back, where do I start? Perhaps about my trip around Ireland with the kids and our visits to several important castles, about fishing in the middle of the Ring of Kerry and horseback … [Read more...]

I've been quiet here lately, posting the odd theater ticket giveaway or twitter update.  There are several reasons for this but the main one being that I've been traveling with my family in the country where my husband was born.  All of my children's first cousins are here in England and we've been visiting their uncles, aunts and grandmother. We also have family coming in from a great distance to spend the Jewish New Year with us. We spent a glorious week in Ireland before  coming here, which definitely gave me food for fodder, and I will be writing … [Read more...]
