Sneak peek: Parenthood

http://widgets.nbc.com/o/4727a250e66f9723/4b8b41473da44bd1/4b685c355fb1bb9e/3dae5892/-cpid/69b2b45fb6f3429I am genuinely excited for the new show Parenthood to hit the  airwaves on Tuesday right after Lost.  I like most of the shows/films that Ron Howard and Brian Grazer produce and this should be no exception. I love, love, love its stars Lauren Graham (of Gilmore Girls fame) and Peter Kraus (from my 2nd favorite show of all time, Six Feet Under - my 1st was Sex in the City, in case you were wondering).Like other moms, I appreciate good Read More

Here's my weekly list of top 5 travel sites: A generation X/Y site for travelers, TravelGeneration is a tool for someone who's researching places around the world.  They teamed up with Top Travel Content Europe last year to "ensure quality content." They have a plethora of travel articles easily searchable by destination.  You can also plan your trip and share your itinerary with friends and family from this site.  One caveat: they want you to have a referrer when you join or you can somehow join via a link that is dead at the moment, so Read More

44th Annual Broadway Purim Spiel

My culture vulture sister, Amy, called me the other day to invite me to the Annual Broadway Purim Spiel this Monday night at the Hudson Theatre in NYC.  Dare I be crazy to refuse?!  Of course not!  It starts at 7pm with complimentary food and drinks.  It'll be fun to be tipsy while watching our favorite Broadway stars retell the Purim story.  All proceeds from the NEFCA event will benefit Taglit-Birthright Israel, an organization dedicated to sending young Jews from across the world to Israel. The Twitter Effect on the Oscars

The L.A. Times had an interesting article by Chris Lee today called "The Twitter Effect on the Oscars".It talks about how Sandra Bulllock's husband, Jesse James has been tweeting about her Oscar nomination and all the awards she has been winning for her appearance in The Blind Side. Some people, like the writer of Up in the Air has tweeted his way into the Oscars, which he was not invited to for some reason. It's amazing that 140-character reviews can make or break an actor's chance of getting the biggest award in the film industry.  So many actors Read More

Month 2 of The Culture Mom Blog

Well, I've only been blogging for less than two months.  When I started, I never thought anyone would read my blog, I must admit.  I'm thrilled by the response to date, and it's given me a new lease on life.  I 've met great people in the virtual world and I've loved hearing back from some of the cultural institutions I've blogged about who have read my postings.  These are museums, theaters that I have been going to for such a long time that it's an honor to be mentioned by any of them. The Culture Mom Blog has had a few mentions this Read More
