Foodie Dining in Vail, Colorado

Screen Shot 2013-08-12 at 11.53.58 PM

While visiting Vail recently, I was introduced to some of the loveliest restaurants in town. I assumed that the food would be good, but I truly didn't realize just how good.  The majority of restaurants are inspired by farm-to-table ingredients and are made with organic ingredients.  While I'm not typically a foodie, I found the food to be inspiring. Once my body got over altitude sickness (which took 24 hours), I was able to really partake in exquisite Vail cuisine.  Here are some of the restaurants I tried. La Tour is a French-American restaurant … [Read more...]

A Night at the Vail International Dance Festival

vail international dance festival

Disclosure: I was a guest of Vail Local Marketing District, who hosted my experience at the Vail International Dance Festival. Last Saturday night I experienced something very special: a night at the Vail International Dance Festival.  I was in town for a few days which happened to coincide with opening night, which celebrated its 25th anniversary.  In celebration of that, the festival featured a bill of repertory highlights at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater stage.  We were privy to some of the finest dancers in the world, including Charles "Lil … [Read more...]

Blissing Out at The Arrabelle at Vail Square

arabelle vail

Disclosure: My visit was sponsored by Vail Summer but all opinions are my own. During a recent stay at The Arrabelle at Vail Square during a weekend getaway, I was completely transported from every day life. From the minute I walked into the lobby, just me and my bags (no kids in tow), I knew I was in for a treat. Clearly I knew that in the winter, the hotel is a winter oasis for skiers, but I really didn't understand how nice it (or Vail) would be in the summertime. Between the service, decor and proximity to central Vail, I was set. The property is … [Read more...]

I just spent a marvelous few days in breath-taking Vail, Colorado, where I was a guest at the Vail International Dance Festival.  It was amazing - a dose of culture, wonderful cuisine and lots of outdoors activities in the mountains including cycling and fly fishing. Before I settle down to write all about it, I wanted to share photos.           Summertime in Colorado is something special, alright, who knew?  Posting about the trip here and elsewhere shortly. Disclosure: My visit was hosted by Vail Summer but all thoughts expressed are my own. … [Read more...]

Snowshoeing for the First Time in Beaver Creek

Snowshoeing

Last week, while vacationing in Beaver Creek, Colorado, I went snowshoeing for the first time.  It was a sport I'd never thought about before, and I was eager to try it.  It's also a sport that has a big following all over the world. You can either snowshoe for pleasure, or you can race competitively (believe me, I know what I'm talking about, I met several people who do it).  According to the Snow Sports Industries America, snowshoe sales are up 21% in units and up 20% in dollars sold through February this season.  If you like sports, particularly … [Read more...]

Capturing Ski Memories with the Help of Epic Mix

EpicMix

I was really excited when I was skiing in Vail recently and learned about Epic Mix.  Epic Mix is a whole new way of skiing and capturing yourself on camera.  You no longer have to worry about carrying your camera on the slopes and having to stop in your tracks on the mountain. Photographers are scattered around the mountain taking photographs and the photos are captured on your EpixMix card, which also serves as your lift ticket.  It's inside your pocket, not even out, and manages to capture all the day's memories. It doesn't only take pictures, it … [Read more...]

elkhorn lodge

I recently discovered a true gem for families in Beaver Creek, Colorado.  It's the Elkhorn Lodge, a ski-in/ski-out lodge situated just minutes from the village.  It's clean, spacious and comfortable and ideal for a family staying for more than a few days.  It has everything to suit a family's needs: location, free shuttle service to the resort, fully equipped kitchens, jetted bath tubs and more.  The lodge is actually a condominium with wholly owned condos, but you can pay per night while the owners are away. They are immaculate and the lodge truly … [Read more...]
