On Getting Gorgeous (Literally and Figuratively!)

getting gorgeous

(Note: I am dreadfully late on this post. I always post on an event that I attend, so I regret my tardiness.) I am not known for being very beauty or fashion centric, so when I receive invitations to event that revolve around either of the two, I am usually stunned and have to think about my RSVP very carefully. However, some of these invitations are easier to consider. Like this one: Getting Gorgeous. Its organizers, Audrey McClelland and Vera Sweeney, are two of the most amazing, giving and savvy people I've met in this space. I love that they met Read More

This Crazy Kind, Wonderful Community (Social Media)

The last two weeks have been unlike any other I have ever experienced. Hurricane Sandy hit New York and in the course of a day, many lives were destroyed.  Homes were swept up, lifetime belongings were ruined, memories were deleted, and lives were changed.  For nine days, my family lived without power.  At first, we were like campers, scrambling for a hot drink, gathering by the fire, playing games and   taking one day at a time as the weather worsened.  In the back of my mind the whole time was the people who's lives were impacted far worse than me and Read More

Shopping Smarter at Marshall’s/TJ Maxx and Giveaway

As a 40+ year-old woman, I am constantly on a quest to become a better dresser.  My body's changing.  I can no longer just slip into a size 6 like I used to.  Whether it's true or not, two pregnancies have taken a toll on my body. In addition, I don't have as much time to color coordinate my clothes, and I find myself spending less and less time trying to figure out what I'm wearing.  I generally always feel under-dressed, like I'm wearing the wrong thing, like I don't have enough dressy clothes.  Now that I am re-entering the workforce in more full Read More
