Your Next Netflix Binge MUST Be Fauda

fauda

I'm very grateful to a good friend who suggested I watch Fauda, an Israeli TV show currently streaming on Netflix. I implore you to make this program your next binge. Every now and then, a show hits you, gets under your skin, and really rips you apart. But not very often, right? The last time it happened with me was probably with Six Feet Under or Breaking Bad, but I can't honestly remember anything hitting me as hard as Fauda.  I think it's because I have very strong ties to the State of Israel. I've lived there and I'm a fervent Zionist. However, Read More

Netflix’s “Atypical” Will Help a Parent of a Child on the Spectrum Feel Less Alone

atypical

Being atypical isn't easy. Trust me, I know from personal experience. Very personal experience, too personal to get too much into details here. So, when Netflix announced their new show Atypical, created by Robia Rashid (The Goldbergs, How I Met Your Mother) and Seth Gordon (also The Goldbergs, as well as the recent Baywatch movie), I was intrigued and eagerly awaited its arrival. As a mom with few outlets and connections to a world that is very personal and quite complicated, as well as incredibly lonely, I was eager to see how TV would portray a boy Read More

My Latest Netflix Binge: GLOW #StreamTeam

GLOW

My latest (and fastest) binge was GLOW, created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch and executive produced by Orange Is the New Black’s Jenji Kohan. It's a show about women's wrestling, a true story based on a group of women in a male-dominated sport in the 1980's.  My dad used to be a wrestling nut, and I was exposed to the sport as a young girl. I vaguely remember women in the ring, I am quite sure he had this very group on. So for me, this show was not only a piece of nostalgia from my own childhood, but also very much a modern dose of women's Read More

Where You’ll Find Me

Where You'll FInd Me Friday

I haven't been writing as much as of late, not due to a shortage of things to talk about, but mainly because of a workload that has been taking me away from doing some of the things I love. Yep, when you work full time, it's hard to partake in the things you love. Last week a business trip took me to Los Angeles, and I went a few days early and enjoyed the beauty of Southern California. I went boogie boarding in Santa Monica, dining in SilverLake, exploring in Pasadena and hiking in the Palisades. It was heaven, and a bonus, I was on my own, without the Read More

On the Set of “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris”

besttimeever

The other night I went to a taping of BEST TIME EVER with Neil Patrick Harris. Yes, it was a Tuesday night and I ventured to Astoria for a live taping of the show, leaving my responsibilities (quite happily) behind for a few hours. I'm also a product of the Mike Douglas/Phil Donahue era, so I am a big fan of talk shows I adore a good variety show. I'm also a big fan of Neil Patrick Harris and his Broadway/Tony performances over the past few years and I wanted to see if he could bring Broadway to network television. Well, he hasn't done exactly that Read More

Dust Off Your Shelfies with Netflix

honorablewoman

While you spent last year shuffling the kids to hockey games, helping solve their quadratic equations and giving the little ones their baths, you probably missed episodes – if not full seasons – of some great shows. Did Olivia kick Fitz to the curb on Scandal? Who’s rocking the break room on Grey’s Anatomy? Just how long is Rick’s beard now on The Walking Dead? With full-blown fall premiere season upon us, now’s the time to grab your boo and glass of wine (or just grab the wine!) and dust off your shelfies. What’s a shelfie you ask? We all have them – Read More

Gracing the Set of Netflix’s Grace And Frankie

graceandfrankie

Grace and Frankie is a show about friendship. It's a show about women. It's about aging. It's a show about life changes that hit you when you least expect them. It's about motherhood and what it's like later in life when the kids venture out on their own. It's about love - when it breaks and how one picks up the pieces. It deals with some very tough issues in a very realistic way. It's a show I've binge watched three times. It's also a show with legends (Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen). Season one featured Read More

Netflix’s Project Mc2 and a Tween Giveaway

projectmc2

I've been very intune with the need for STEM over the last few years, not just because I have a daughter, but because I have worked for tech companies with an emphasis on digital, science and technology. I understand the dire need to encourage and inspire young girls to pave the way for them in these important fields. Yet it was surprising, in a very good way, when my daughter approached me about a new show on Netflix called Project Mc2, a show about four girls who join forces with intelligence chief The Quail, played by actress and real-life math Read More

When Netflix is a Girl’s Bestfriend

netflix

I've been recovering from an accident for several months and have been home more than usual. At first, I wondered how I'd spend my time. Days came and went. Until I remembered that cozy spot in the basement where I could sit and watch TV. Not just regular TV, but Netflix. So equipped with a blanket, a heating pad, liquids and meds (believe me, I needed plenty in the early days of recovery), I sat down and started flipping through the classic and independent films. At first, I felt inundated by the amount of choice. I have over 100 saved in my queue from Read More
