Multi-Generational Zen at the Emerson Resort and Spa

emerson1

When I invited my mom to accompany me to a weekend at the Emerson Resort and Spa in the Catskills, I had a feeling we were in for something special. I'd been to the area and knew it holds an aura of tranquility. I also knew we were going to be near hippie-esque towns and that we needed time to explore after our stint at the spa. We both needed the experience to escape stress and reality, and I had no doubt the time would be bonding and rewarding. After all, my mom just moved to New York, and I'm embracing the time with her. The Emerson would be our Read More

A Nautical Visit to Nonantum Resort

nonantum

We recently stayed at Nonantum Resort, a luxurious hotel in the heart of Kennebunkport, Maine. What was unique about the experience was that we were in the midst of a beautiful seaside village, complete with rocky beaches, waterfront cottages, sail boats, lobster fisherman and quaint shops and restaurants. The resort is ideal for a family trip as it's equipped with kid's activities (there's even a special tent dedicated to them, complete with a popcorn machine, movie screen, arts & crafts), sports (everything from kayaking to shuffle boarding), a Read More

Family Bliss at Maine’s Inn By the Sea

innbythesea

During our recent family holiday in Maine, my family and I ventured to a luxury oceanside resort in Cape Elizabeth called Inn By the Sea. Little did we know that we would be experiencing a completely blissful stay that would raise our bar for family travel forever moving forward. Inn By the Sea offers spacious, modern, sleek suites with views of the ocean, gorgeous food served on the premises, children's activities, a full-service spa and an extremely attentive staff. We felt right at home as soon as we walked through the door and remained in a zen Read More

A Visit to Maine’s The Lodge on the Cove

lodgeonthecove

We just spent 24 hours at an unexpected treasure of a boutique hotel called The Lodge on the Cove, part of the Kennebunkpost Resort Collection, in Kennebunkport, Maine. Tucked away in a secluded part of this famous seaside town is this simply sublime and stylish resort.  It's also extremely welcoming to families with its spacious rooms, spread throughout a property that edges a tidal cove one mile from the center of town, as well as its activity offerings. The hotel is a  converted motor lodge that re-opened last year. The owners commissioned local Read More

A Visit to Essex Culinary Resort & Spa

chefanthony

My family and I just spent a few days at a very unique resort in Vermont called the Essex Culinary Resort & Spa. What is unique about it is not the fact that it's a located in a serene, beautiful of the state and offers a plethora of neither activities nor the fact that the grounds itself are breath taking and quite immaculate. What's unique is that the entire resort is based around cooking. As soon as you walk through the door, you are presented with homemade desserts and that is the just the tip of the iceberg with the serious culinary reality Read More

Playing Tourists on NYC’s Circle Line

circle line tour

This past week I joined my son, mother and sister on a tour of Manhattan. Yes, you are wondering why I would do that when I live near NYC and have for many, many years! For one thing, it was a boat tour. I was invited by Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises to go on their Harbor Lights Tour.  Who can resist the city at night? For another thing, my mom is visiting from out of town and I knew she would get a real kick out of seeing NYC all lit up at night, close up and person. In addition, my son is very Instagram obsessed at the moment, and I knew that he Read More

A Multi-Generational Visit to Vermont’s Lake Morey Resort

lake morey resort

Follow my blog with Bloglovin This past weekend I packed the kids and my mom up and we fled to Vermont. Our destination was Lake Morey Resort, a family-style resort located on a 600-acre lake surrounded by greenery, filled with water sports and packed with memories. I try to take my mother away with us once a year to somewhere unlike anywhere she has ever been and somewhere with an appeal to my kids. Lake Morey Resort was ideal for this year's choice. The resort is rustic yet upscale at the same time. It has an old time feeling of genuine Read More

A Family-Friendly Visit to Palm Springs

living desert and zoo

My guess is that when you think of Palm Springs, you think of exotic cocktails, lying by the pool, hiking in the desert, exploring art galleries, dining at retro eateries and nightclubbing with the likes of Frank Sinatra impersonators. Little did you know that the town is actually full of child-friendly spots. Whether you go for a few days or a full week, you won't run out of things to do with the kids. Palm Springs is really easy to get to, as well. It's a mere two-hour drive from Los Angeles, San Diego, Mexico and an easy flight from Phoenix, Read More

Mother Daughter Night at Residence Inn Central Park

View from Residence Inn

This past weekend my 11-year old daughter and I spent a night at the Residence Inn in Central Park. We had no idea before our arrival that we were headed to North America's tallest hotel! The 68-story building houses some of the best views in the city, without a doubt. The views from our room were simply stunning and it was such fun to point out the surrounding buildings and gaze down at the people and taxis from so far above. You can't feel more New York City than this with such incredible views through windows that surrounded our room facing the Read More

A Night Away Without the Kids at Water’s Edge Resort & Spa

watersedge

When I was invited to spend an evening at Water's Edge Resort & Spa in Connecticut, it sounded like the answer to my prayers.  It had been many years since my husband and I got away on our own.  I just looked it up on my blog and it was in 2009, before this blog was even born. We don't have much family support where we live, so it is never easy to orchestrate childcare so we tend to take our kids with us when we travel. Thankfully, when this invite came, the timing could not have been better.  We've both been working overtime with long commutes into Read More
