Simplify Your Life with Fresh Direct and a Giveaway ($50 gift card)

Fresh Direct

One of the best parts of Associate Producing the upcoming NYC show Listen to Your Mother is finding out about companies and brands that I need to know about to simplify my life. As a working mom, I am always seeking a way to ease the demands of everyday life...and save money. So, when Fresh Direct agreed to become a major sponsor for Listen To Your Mother, I listened when the crew began calculating how much they had collectively spent using this delivery service. They are such big fans that the total was more than $20,000. Seriously, my ears and eyes Read More

A Star is Born

Fashion Playtes

Picking out clothes for my daughter isn't as easy as it used to be when she was younger.  I used to go shopping and she loved everything I brought home.  Usually, I just picked up any item that was pink or purple, and it was an instant hit. Unfortunately, we no longer always see eye to eye.  I bought her home a pair of shoes last week that she nix'ed, and I can tell that her fashion sense is fast forwarding itself past my own, and she now looks to some of her friends and heroes, like Selena Gomez, for fashion advice and approval.  It's sad but true. As a 40+ year-old woman, I am constantly on a quest to become a better dresser.  My body's changing.  I can no longer just slip into a size 6 like I used to.  Whether it's true or not, two pregnancies have taken a toll on my body. In addition, I don't have as much time to color coordinate my clothes, and I find myself spending less and less time trying to figure out what I'm wearing.  I generally always feel under-dressed, like I'm wearing the wrong thing, like I don't have enough dressy clothes.  Now that I am re-entering the workforce in more full Read More

And, I’ve recently started buying my ten-year-old daughter pieces from J. Crew’s fabulous Crew Cuts For Kids. So, the other day, on National Public Radio (NPR), a story about NY Fashion Week 2011 caught my attention. Pulitzer Prize Read More

Flirt

This past weekend after the PBS Kids Club 13 Fleece weekend at the Prospect Park Zoo, we wondered over to Park Slope for an afternoon stroll and a bite.  I had a discovery of my own, a small boutique called Flirt. Flirt is a small boutique co-owned by three performing-arts veterans—a singer-songwriter, an actress, and a modern dancer.  They have the most wonderful taste and have filled the store with carefully selected items from designers who specialize in handmade pieces.  I would like to buy every single one!  They have wrap dresses, silk screened Read More
