Thinking About Etan Patz, the Atlanta Missing and Murdered Children and My Own Kids

ethan patz

As I write, I'm lying in bed with my 9 year-old daughter.  We're staying in a B&B in the Adirondacks.  We spent today experiencing a number of firsts for both my kids.  It was the first time they'd ever been for a ride in a canoe.  It was the first time they'd ever ridden in a tractor.  It was even the first time they'd ever eaten chicken parmesan.  I spent the day watching their faces.  Faces of curiosity and bewilderment.  Faces of happiness and excitement.  My son was literally jumping for joy after his ride on the tractor.  Suddenly a trip that Read More

Join Kids Club 13, Angelina Ballerina and Me at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum

BCM290x451

I've written about Angelina Ballerina a bunch of times on this blog.  My daughter was obsessed with her when she was 3, 4, maybe even 5.  When she left that phase (she's 7 now), I was kind of sad myself.  The sweet, innocent mouse introduced my daughter to ballet.  Her books taught her valuable lessons and morals.  Even though we have moved on, I am very keen on the Kids Club 13vent we are going to this Sunday at the Brooklyn Children's Museum.  I am sure that the experience will move my daughter to think fondly back on dressing up in tutus and imitating Read More

A few days ago, all of the PBS Kids Club 13 Ambassadors gathered at the new WNET Studios at Lincoln Center for a meet & greet luncheon.  Debbie Adler, PBS Channel 13/WNET's Director of Online Marketing, has put together such an amazing group of women to join the team of ambassadors, including some of my favorite NYC bloggers, there are 14 total, and I am extremely honored to be a part of it all.  In addition, I am doubly honored to be associated with PBS Kids, a brand that I have known all of my life.  From the minute my own children were born, I Read More

My Love for PBS Kids

I'm honored to be a PBS Kids Club Thirteen Ambassador.  Nothing could suit me more perfectly.  I'm a kid at heart.  Quite often I relive my childhood through my own childrens' experiences.  Whether it be via a trip to Disney World, which I adored as a child, or to see "Annie" or "Mary Poppins" live on stage, I enjoy replicating my own experiences and seeing them through the eyes of my children.  PBS Kids falls right into this scenario.  Some of my earliest memories are coming home from nursery school and heading into the den Read More

Kid Culture: PBS Kids Club Thirteen

I've recently become an Ambassador of the PBS Kids Club Thirteen program, so you'll be hearing a lot about it in future days to come here on The Culture Mom Blog.  I'm really excited about my involvement with a brand I truly believe in.  I'm a huge PBS fan, as are my kids.  Also, as a New Yorker and as Culture Mom, I am determined to absorb my kids in as much culture and NYC life as I possibly can.  After all, we live in the greatest city on earth!  The PBS Kids Club Thirteen program is totally aligned with I'm about, and I'm Read More
