One thing I’d add, if you have a stickler for routine, is to talk before the trip begins what he or she might expect, and do the same pep talk each morning – today we are going to see … x, y, z … If you have more than one child, and the other child won’t be bothered by noise, if the sensory sensitive child has learned to use noise canceling headphones, bring those with you. This way you might be able to delay leaving for a little bit.
