Time To Play Showcase

I went to Time to Play’s Spring Showcase yesterday.  All the major toy merchandisers were showcasing their new spring and summer offerings.  My kids would have been in heaven, but instead I was the lucky one to be presented with the next best toys coming our way.  Here are a few of my favorites:

1. At the Nickelodeon booth, I liked the iCarly 10″ Dolls.  My daughter just loves iCarly, and she’s a pretty good role model.  These new dolls coming fall 2010 will help your child with role play as they act out their favorite scenes from iCarley with their favorite characters.  They are for ages 6+ and will retail at $19.99.

2. We went to Disneyland in January and role a Toy Story ride that featured cosmic blasters we fired to gain points.  At Time To Play, I saw an exact replica that my son will die for.  It’s the Toy Story 3 Buzz Lightyear Cosmic Blaster coming May 2010 by Mattel.  Equipped with three soft foam projectiles, flashing lights and laser sound effects, it’s geared for kids age 6+ and will retail at $14.99.  The easy grip shooter comes with three projectiles for fun firing action.  When you squeeze the trigger, there are flashing lights and laser sound effects for the ultimate in battle gear.

3. I love anything that will keep my kids busy in the car or on a plane.  Since we culture moms love to travel, and I really liked Crayola’s new offering, the Crayola Dry-Erase Travel Activity Center.  Retailing at $9.99 and available now, it’s a portable dry-erase project that comes in a 6-1/2 x 8-1/2 case.  I love anything that will keep my kids busy in the car or on a plane.  It includes 4 Crayola Washable Dry-Erase crayons in shades of red, blue, black and green, an erase mitt, a dry-erase crayon sharpener and 8 game and activity templates.

4. Along the lines of travel, Mattel is offering five new portable To Go! games to take on vacation.  They are all retailing at $9.99 and include everything you need to entertain your kids for a few hours in a hotel room or a long car or plane journey.  They’ve got portable versions of Flippin’ Frog, Kerplunck!, UNO Spin, Mad Gab Game and Pictionary Man.  The age ranges vary from game to game but start at 5 (Flippin Frog and Kerplunk!).

5. Remember growing up with weebles?  “Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down!”  Somehow those toys stand out in my memory from my youth.  Spin Master is offering a toy that reminds me of the Weebles – they’re called Mighty Beanz.  They’re small bean characters that shake, rattle and roll. They come in 20 themes including Zoo, Prehistoric, Music, Fast Food, Space, Sport, Fantasy and many others.  They are pretty funny and my kids haven’t stopped playing with them since I brought them home.

I also got a chance to catch up with some of my favorite bloggers, so it was a pretty fantastic day.  Stay tuned for more information on some of my other favorite toys in the upcoming weeks.
