Want to Show Your Children the World? Start here.

Today I went to a really interesting conversation led by extraordinary women who are as passionate about travel as I am to kick off a new family travel web site, www.PreferredFamily.com. It was a wonderful afternoon, spent at the beautiful Trump Tower Columbus Circle, where I sipped champagne and gazed out at an amazing view of Central Park.

As a traveling parent, I’m always looking for a one-stop resource for information on where to stay with my kids.  That’s why I’m fascinated by this site, where families can book a trip and find discussion on current news and travel trends, as well as itineraries for family adventure.

The goal is to ease the travel experience.  All the luxury hotels listed have been evaluated for age-specific needs, from ages 0-17.  Users can quickly search and filter locations by age, activities, amenities, interests, and style to plan the perfect family getaway anywhere in the world. The “Family Travel Planner” allows visitors to quickly search by the type of trip they want to take.  You can search from more than 200 Preferred Family Certified hotels and resorts worldwide, many with kids camps and other kid-friendly offerings.

Also included on the website is an interactive feature that allows families to plan ahead and organize daily itineraries so they can jump into activities as soon as they arrive. Powered by the experts at Fortnighter and insiders at Preferred Family hotels, “Three Days in … ” showcases fresh local activities and places to eat along with top 10 things to know while in the destination. Each hotel also provides a list of events and things to do, including everything from annual festivals and local happenings to on-property activities. Finally, the “Family Blogs” page streams live feeds from top family travel bloggers to keep families up-to-date on travel trends, gadgets, and news.  You just might see me contributing there one of these days.

Disclosure: I was invited as a guest to the luncheon and provided with a few gifts including one by Melissa and Doug, but all opinions are my own.
