When I have an opportunity to use my voice to make a difference, I seize it. Maternal mortality is an issue I’ve talked about many times on this site, so I was so happy to find out about this important event. This Friday Tracy Anderson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Christy Turlington Burns are hosting a launch party this Friday at The Standard Hotel in NYC (my favorite hotel that sits on the High Line) to celebrate Tracy’s newest DVD series, The Pregnancy Project. Net proceeds from the event, as well as a portion of sales from the DVD, benefit Every Mother Counts.
The Pregnancy Project series contains nine different workouts, one workout focused on each month of pregnancy, which Tracy filmed in real time. In addition to the workouts, the series contains interviews with doctors, mothers, Tracy’s clients, and various experts on pregnancy. The advice from these experts also include testimonials from Tracy’s clients that have been able to attribute their post-pregnancy bodies to Tracy’s method.
The Pregnancy Project is designed to be a guide for expectant parents and covers everything from nutrition, to fitness, to the leading studies on pregnancy. Tracy already has a tremendously successful post-pregnancy workout DVD, with over 1 million copies sold, and this project is designed to be a much more comprehensive tool for women at all stages of pregnancy and motherhood.
The mission of Every Mother Counts is to reduce preventable maternal deaths and improve maternal health worldwide. Every Mother Counts is an advocacy and mobilization campaign to increase education and support for maternal mortality reduction globally. Every Mother Counts seeks to engage new audiences to better understand the challenges and the solutions while encouraging them to take action to improve the lives of girls and women worldwide.
This special event is bringing three amazing women together to spread the word about both organizations. Tracy Anderson actually has been Gwyneth Paltrow’s personal trainer and as you know, Gwyneth is a big advocate of women and mom’s rights. I met Christy Turlington Burns at BlogHer 12 after she spoke about “Women influencer as change experts” and was an instant fan. She is a global health advocate and is doing crazy good things for women around the world.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post but I truly believe in the cause and will be at the event as a guest of The Pregnancy Project.
