Our Winter Family Getaway to the Hamptons

Panoramic View and Residence

We recently spent a few nights in Montauk.  I know what you’re thinking.  Why go there in the winter time?  What could there possibly be to do?  Well, we were thinking the same thing at first, but our love for the area won out and we decided to spend part of our winter break there.

We headed to the Panoramic View Resort & Residences  where we stayed in an oceanfront room in one their beach cottages.  We stayed in a one bedroom suite which has a separate living room with a sofa bed.  It has a small kitchen with a refrigerator and stove top on which we made several meals.

We had magnificent views from our balcony, where we took long rests.

Each morning we woke up to the sounds of crashing waves and sea gulls flying in the sky, and we had coffee on our balcony overlooking the sea.  The weather was perfect, allowing for long walks on the beach, the children collecting sea shells and stones along the way.

The highlight of our trip was most certainly the trip around the lighthouse, climbing rocks and wandering the local beach’s white sands and rocks.

We also wandered through the quiet town’s shops and had a wonderful dinner at a local restaurant called Harvest on Fort Pond, which offers family style Italian-American fare.  We found an indoor swimming pool for the kids next door at Gurney’s and I even got away for a spell on my own and took a yoga class.

In addition to the kind of room we stayed in, the Panoramic View Resort & Residences offers homebuyers a surprisingly reasonable luxe second home. Guests get magnificent views from huge picture windows in every resort unit and the opportunity to lounge on their own private balconies or terraces. They also come with daily housekeeping, plush king size beds, outdoor heated pool with cabanas (better for the summertime), fitness center, business center, central air, heating, a washer and dryer, an alarm system and quiet beach with beach attendants.

Rentals are available all year and the costs vary per season.  For information, call 631-668-3000 or visit PanoramicView.com.

All in all, it was a relaxing, absolutely lovely few days for every member of my family.  We all came back rejuvenated and ready for the new year.  We would absolutely return to Montauk for another winter adventure, and we will.

Disclosure: The room at the Panoramic View Resort & Residences was complimentary to facilitate this review and others, but all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
