Holiday Gift Ideas for Tweens

kidzvuz

Last weekend I went to the Kidzvuz Holiday House Party and got the complete low down on truly awesome picks for holiday gifts for tweens. If you’ve been wondering what to get this year, look no further.  They had all the right bases covered for the two kids in my house, starting with…

Travel: We are a traveling family, so I was happy to find out more about Hilton Homewood Suites, for extended travel or residential style visits.  As a family, we always like spreading ourselves out, making our own meals, having a swim and chilling out with comforts.  How about surprising your children with a city this holiday, accompanied by a visit in one of the 300 Hilton Homewood Suites around the country?  I kid you not – nothing is more educational than getting out and seeing the world.

Education: Audible.com offers monthly memberships for downloadable books, including a whole slate for kids featuring best sellers on the iPod, Android, Kindle or mp3 player. If you have a bookworm or a fledgling reader (I have both), this is a good program to consider and will make a great stocking stuffer.

Beauty: Dermalogica, the skincare line, now offers a full care system for tweens. I have a daughter whose skin is just starting to react to the environment, food and stress, and I feel like it’s time for her to start taking care of it on her own. This brand’s structured system is exactly what we need.

Technology: With all the options out there, it’s good to know what tech gurus like the folks at Kidzvuz recommend. The short list: Nintendo (we’re Wii U users) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids, a tablet with a kid friendly interface, more intuitive and user friendly for kids.

Toys: If toys are what your kids really want, here are a few to consider: Zoomer the Interactive Robotic Dog, Twister Dance Rave Game, The Nerf Rebelle (it was like watching my daughter play Merida in Brave),  the Furbie Boom (an interactive plush creature that can respond to music, motion, and your voice. My kids are WILD about this toy – they hook it up to the iPad and interact with it), the Flutterbye Fairy and the adorable Kawaii Krush.

Accessories: Tweens love everything that the brand iScream makes – backpacks, iPhone cases, bags, activity books, stickers and the most amazing pillows shaped like ice-cream and candy to decorate their beds (pictured above).

Culture: The Broadway League is bringing Kids Night on Broadway to theatres around the country. Adults buy one ticket, kids get in free. It will take place in NYC Feb 24-Mar 2! Tickets will go on sale to the public on Wed Jan 8. Get your kids to the theatre!

Whether you are in the midst of Hanukkah now or have shopping time ahead of you before Christmas arrives, take some of these gifts into consideration and happy tween shopping!

Disclosure: I was provided with a few gifts from the Kidzvuz event, however all opinions are my own.
