Giveaway: Tickets to Our New Girl at Atlantic Theater

Hazel Robinson appears to have everything, but when her plastic surgeon husband departs for a charitable mission in Haiti, she’s left holding the bag of a failing new business and a problem child. When a professional nanny arrives unannounced on her doorstep, Hazel finds her home under the shadow of a seemingly perfect stranger and one who has an agenda of her own.

The cast features Mary McCann (The Old Neighborhood, Our Town), Lisa Joyce (La Bete; Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson), Henry Kelemen (“Mr. Popper’s Penguins,” “What Maisie Knew”) and CJ Wilson (Bronx BombersThe Big Knife).

In times of great strife one is always looking for an out. If an out showed up on my doorstep would I embrace that out? You bet I would! I just hope my consequences would not be as seemingly dark as Hazels is

  2. Fascinating topic for a play!

  3. Oh God I remember the days when I went back to work (ran really) and I’d feel guilty for being away from my son, and then I’d feel guilty for not missing him when I was away from him. Sometimes it’s a no win situation. I really look forward to this show.

  4. Chrysula says

Sounds fascinating. Would love to see this!

  5. Problem child? I think we’ve all had those days. Days where we’ve needed space, where a nanny relieved or would have relieved, taking off some of the pressure, given us a moment to breathe, so we wouldn’t feel the need to scream because we’re so overwhelmed with our lives, but, dont worry, not everyday is like that.

  6. I love Irish dramas because they are so dark and different from my own life. I always come home more appreciative of what I have and that is a good reminder.

  7. I always say, if you can afford it (again, only if you can afford it) stay home and prevent the guilt. If you can’t afford it, work and your kids will understand and appreciate you later in life.

  8. This sounds really interesting. I’d love to see this! It is certainly hard to be a parent sometimes, but the husband throwing a new nanny into the mix just adds fuel to the fire. Fingers crossed.

  9. Problem child? No I wouldn’t know anything about that ;-).

  10. Wait…isn’t MOST of parenting the dark side????

  11. I’m scared. But I’ll go. 🙂

  12. Ellen M. says

Well, I never left a high-paying when I had my daughter. First-time motherhood was hard enough and I really admire the women who do both, even though I know it’s an incredible challenge.

Thanks for the opportunity to see this play. Sounds very intriguing. I love psychological thrillers. It’s one of my favorite genres.

  13. Diana Marszalek says

Always love a look at the dark side … sounds great.

  14. We’ve all had our dark days of parenting, right? No mystery nanny, though.

  15. Laura Pruden says

I can absolutely imagine finding comfort in the shadow of a dark angel’s wing, especially if she worked magic with my children. A tangle, for sure. I’d love to see this play!
