I am happy to be associated with the return of Mummenschanz, which is coming back to New York next month. For more than thirty years the company has created an original and captivating universe of whimsy, wonder, and ingenuity that delights both young and old. Mummenschanz who revolutionized mime art with a new vocabulary of body language, are back with a new show that keeps the best and most significant acts of previous shows. It’s the perfect way to introduce your kids to the world of pantomime, which they might not have experienced before.
The Mummenschanz Mask Theater was founded in 1972. In 1973, Mummenschanz toured the USA, Canada, and South America, and later enjoyed a three year run on Broadway 77-79). They are known for having appeared as special guest stars on the last episode of the first season of The Muppet Show ,which taped in November 1976. They also appeared on 3-2-1 Contact in the 1980s and Northern Exposure in the 1990s. The troupe won the prestigious Rose d’or for their TV production La Pomme in 1980.
Mummenschanz creates a playful and uniquely memorable experience through an inventive use of forms, shadow and light and creative manipulation of sculptural, expressive masks.

I saw the Mummenschanz when I was in 2 nd grade or so it was the best thing I had ever seen. The only other time I ever heard the name was when they were on the muppet show and although to this day I still can’t spell it (I cut and paste) I always hoped I would see it again. Heres my chance… now if only I had some tickets. Extra bonus my mom will be in NY visiting Jan 8th and 9th so it would be great, last time she took me.

Love Mummenschanz! Heck, I am so old, I remember seeing them on THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW! I would love to take the kids and the desk jockey husband to see this. It makes me smile just thinking about it!
I remember seeing this with my mom and I would love to share the experience with my daughters.
I remember the commercial on tv when I was a kid. They said the one word Mummenschanz it a very magical way but I never saw it. My daughter loves theater and to act and I think it would be wonderful to see this experience together. It would also be fun to take her down to the Village where we never seem to go.
